Design for Recycling Guidelines

Design for Recycling Guidelines offer insight in the design of the different components of a plastic packaging and give guidance to the users on how they can improve the overall recyclability of their product.

The guidelines consider components such as caps, labels and additives among others and evaluate their compatibility with a given recycling stream.

Design for Recycling Guidelines are developed by:

  • The European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP) for PET bottles;
  • Petcore Europe for PET Trays Thermoforms;
  • RecyClass for all other products.

These guidelines are reviewed by plastics value chain experts, as well as updated based on technology assessments.
